2006, Pietra Santa Winery, Central Coast Gewurztraminer

This limited production wine comes from our estate vineyard 15 miles to the north of the Pietra Santa Winery.  The soil here is richer and contains more clay making it more favorable for growing grapes.  The vineyard shares the same cool breezes off the coast which are critical for slow ripening and retaining crisp acidity to balance the wine’s rich texture and heady aromas.  The grapes were whole cluster pressed, stainless steel fermented and aged sur lie in the tank.  The wine was bottled young after only 7 months of aging to preserve the fresh, fruity characters.
The 2006 Gewürztraminer is made in a refreshing, dry style and tastes of tropical fruits and citrus with a lovely bouquet of lavender and spring flowers.  Gewürztraminer is the perfect picnic wine!
