This classic Alexander Valley vineyard is planted on sloping red soil just east of the Russian River. The vines are planted on St. George rootstock that has been grafted to a 75 year old clone of Zinfandel. The wine is a field blend of 80% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah and 10% Carignane.
It has been produced in traditional style as a field blend using a labor intensive hand punch down method. It shows a bouquet of rich plum and bing cherries with flavors of ripe raspberries, currants, vanilla and spice.
