Our rising star---2002 marks the premier vintage of the W. H. Smith Maritime Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir.  Eleven acres planted between 1997 and 1999, closely spaced in the Burgundian tradition, yielded barely more than a ton per acre
in 2002, which helps to explain the wine's intense Pinot flavors---including gobs of brambly, juicy blackberries.  Rich and tannic, this vin de garde will only
improve with bottle aging.  Taste it today and speculate just how good it will be a few years hence.  We suggest you aerate the wine for two hours in a wide-mouth decanter before enjoying.
