Viognier  is becoming a popular grape for notes of peaches, cream and honey.  Viognier wines are full bodied, soft wines with rich stone fruit flavors.  Extra dry versions of Viognier wines often come with a higher alcohol content: 14% is common.  Although there are some light Viognier wines, most are winter whites.  If you want Viognier wines at their best, exceptional versions are made in the French Condrieu region.  A lighter, less expensive alternative to the Condrieu region are Viognier wines from Languedoc.  Most of the best American Viognier wines comes from the Central Coast near Santa Barbara.
