According to research at UC Davis, Pinot Grigio is a mutant of Pinot Noir and began in Burgundy.  Pinot Grigio wines are also known as Pinot Gris.  Pinot Grigio grows easily in cooler climates and can be found in Alsace, Oregon, Oregon, and Italy.  Pinot Grigio wines can vary depending on where its grown. Pinot Grigio wines will range in color from white to a copper or pinkish hue and have some mineral acidity and fruit.  Pinot Grigio wines as great for sipping and pairs well with a variety of foods including seafood and vegetables.
