Grenache wines are also known in Italy as Cannonnau.  Grenache wines are Mediterranean in character, with bright cherry flavors that range from dry to very sweet.  Grenache wines are often used for blending with the leaner and more acidic Tempranillo.  Grenache wines produces excellent, juicy reds and fruit filled blush wines in Navarra, but the best examples of Grenache wines are found in Priorat.  The deepest, darkest Priorat Grenache wines come from vines as old as a century. Grenache wines from newer vines tend to be lighter than those from low-yielding old vines. There are rare white versions of Grenache wines available.  These unique Grenache wines are made from white Grenache grapes and offer big, full flavors of pineapple, vanilla, and honey.
